Birdline for February 1, 2012

This is a summary of the Hudson-Mohawk Birdline reports for the week ending 1 February 2012*.

Forty-four species were reported this week. Most-reported species were Bald Eagle (13 reports, 22 individuals), Red-tailed Hawk (7 reports) and Common Goldeneye (5).

The best birds were:

BLACK VULTURE: Hudson 1/28 (3)

RUSTY BLACKBIRD: Delmar 2/1 (2).

Snow Goose: Fort Miller 1/26, 1/29, 1/31 (~120).

Mute Swan: Nassau 1/27 (5).

Northern Pintail: Fort Miller 1/26 (5).

Greater Scaup: Stillwater 1/26 (2).

Lesser Scaup: Stillwater 1/26.

Wild Turkey: Valatie 1/27; Glenville 2/1 (7); Delmar 2/1 (21).

Common Loon: Lake George 1/30 (2).

Black Vulture: Hudson 1/28 (3).

Turkey Vulture: Valatie 1/27.

Northern Harrier: Coxsackie Grasslands 1/29 (5); Fort Edward 1/29 (11).

Rough-legged Hawk: Fort Miller 1/29; Fort Edward 1/29 (2).

American Kestrel: Fort Edward 1/29.

Peregrine Falcon: Troy 1/28.

Fish Crow: Troy 1/26.

Carolina Wren: Greenport 1/28.

Eastern Bluebird: Greenport 1/29.
